Getting started

Install VoiceToPrompt, grant macOS permissions, and make your first dictation.

1. Install the app

Download the DMG from the official site, open it, and move VoiceToPrompt to Applications. The app appears in the macOS menu bar rather than the Dock.

VoiceToPrompt requires macOS 14.0 Sonoma or newer.

2. Grant permissions

VoiceToPrompt needs Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring permissions. Microphone records speech, Accessibility pastes text, and Input Monitoring enables global hotkeys.

3. Dictate text

Open the app where you want to insert text, press the hotkey or microphone button, speak, then press the hotkey again to stop dictation. You can also stop recording with the Stop button in the app.

If Auto-paste is enabled, the result is inserted into the active app automatically.
