When VoiceToPrompt needs an OpenAI key, how to get one, and what is sent to OpenAI.
When the key is needed
You need an OpenAI API key for cloud transcription, AI Fix-It, EN mode, and some project prompt cleanup flows. Local transcription on Apple Silicon does not require a key.
How to get a key
Create an account at platform.openai.com/signup, open platform.openai.com/api-keys, create a secret key, and paste it into VoiceToPrompt Settings.
The key is stored in macOS Keychain. VoiceToPrompt does not proxy requests or add a markup to OpenAI usage.
What is sent
Cloud mode sends audio to OpenAI Whisper API. AI Fix-It and EN mode send text.
